The lawyers in our Local Government Practice Group have deep experience representing elected officials, cities, counties, state agencies, other public entities and private companies. We routinely handle legal matters such as the drafting and implementation of local ordinances and state legislation, contract negotiations, zoning and land use disputes, compliance with open meetings and open records laws, compliance with state ethics laws, competitive bidding procurement procedures, taxation, public finance and the regulation of public utilities.

Special Counsel and General Counsel for Local Government Entities

Through our representation of cities, special districts, community redevelopment agencies, industrial development boards, land banks, and other public offices and agencies, the lawyers in our Local Government Practice Group have acquired a deep knowledge of the wide variety of laws and constitutional principles that apply to governmental bodies. Among other matters, we represent our governmental clients in matters involving contracting, ethics laws, gift laws, public records laws, public meeting laws, due process rights of public employees, the immunity of public bodies and their officers and employees, and police powers on a daily basis.

State and Local Government Affairs for Private Entities

In addition to representing government entities, Hand Arendall Harrison Sale represents private clients in state and local government matters. Our services in this area include procurement and contract negotiations, economic development agreements, zoning and land use compliance, and governmental relations. We also have particular experience assisting clients with securing governmental approvals and funding, pursuing clients’ interests in connection with pending local and state legislation, securing local permits and favorable interpretations of local regulations, and resolving local real estate and license tax disputes.
