Hand Arendall’s O’Rear Wins $12.7 Million Verdict in Case Against Colonial Properties Trust and Three Affiliated Companies

Caine O’Rear, an attorney in Hand Arendall’s Mobile office represented New York based SM Traditions in a fraud and breach of fiduciary duty lawsuit arising out of SM Traditions’ investment as a partner of Colonial Properties Trust in an apartment complex project in Gulf Shores, Alabama called Colonial Grand at Traditions.

The jury returned a verdict in favor of SM Traditions for $6.7 million in compensatory damages and $6 million in punitive damages.
