Hand Arendall’s Kingren Receives Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award

J. Fred Kingren, a partner at Hand Arendall LLC, has been awarded the 2010 Distinguished Accounting Alumnus award by Beta Alpha Psi, an accounting honor society at Samford University’s Brock School of Business. Kingren was also inducted as an honorary member of the society upon his acceptance of the award at the Vestavia Hills Country Club on April 28, 2010.

Sharon Jackson, Assistant Professor of Accounting and the advisor to the Beta Alpha Psi Samford University Chapter, said, “Samford University is proud of Fred Kingren’s career accomplishments and we are pleased to honor him in this way.”
Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization for financial information students and professionals. Its primary objective is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance and information systems; providing opportunities for self-development, service and association among members and practicing professionals; and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility. Fred Kingren is an outstanding lawyer who helps guide businesses from their early stages of development through their evolution into more mature businesses and ultimately their eventual transition in ownership.

He serves on the Board of Overseers of Samford University, is the Vice-Chairperson of the Advisory Board to the Brock School of Business at Samford University, and is the chairperson of the monthly networking meetings of the Samford Business Network in Birmingham. In addition to his involvement with Samford University, Kingren is involved with the Birmingham Business Alliance, serving as a trustee. He is a member of an entrepreneurs roundtable, comprised of local business owners and C-level executives, which meets monthly in his law firm’s offices to discuss issues important to their businesses. He is also a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and serves on its Finance Committee.
